In recent years, they've shown a strong performance, with over 50 regular season wins to their credit in eleven straight seasons. Sadly, the lockout in 2011-12 put a crimp in their winning streak, making a 50-win impossible due to a limited schedule. The Mavs managed a 36-30 regular season record, making it the 7th place in the West, only to be swept out in the first round rout by the Oklahoma City Thunder .

The lockout impacted his ability to condition completely, but once he got going, it was the vintage Nowitzki all the way.

But in many ways, Dahntay Jones may be the real Maverick mystery. Coming on board at the same time as Collison, in a trade that saw Ian Mahinmi move to Indiana, Jones brings his signature defense specialty to the table, but still he could also play offense if the push comes to shove. But make no mistake - his strengths are defense and that's where the Mavs will give him most of his playing time.
